Health Care
PACE offers health services through a one-stop dispensary to the members of the community at affordable rates; particularly to persons who are challenged physically due to an injury, or from birth.
Mobile Clinic
In 1991, the mobile clinic was the first ministry outreach of PACE with one volunteer doctor and nurse. During this time, the clinic was known as "take the doctor to the people" program. The target group were those in rural communities with little access to medical services. These clinics provided de-worming, drugs for school aged children, and general health services for adults. The present day mobile clinic continues the legacy of service to many of these communities today and gives referrals to the district hospital for cases beyond our sphere of expertise.
Medical Clinic
The medical clinic at PACE began in 1998, but has only been run on-and-off since its inception. However, in 2006, Moses Gikonyo joined the staff and became head of the clinic management. The most commonly treated conditions at the clinic are:
- Respiratory problems due to dust in the air and the cool climate of this area.
- Diahrreah and amebiasis due to poor living conditions and poor drinking water
- Malaria
- Mental Illness and drug use related to poverty

Currently, the medical clinic is housed in a semi-permenant building with seven rooms and is served by one volunteer doctor. We have two examination beds, an office, a fully functioning restroom, a storage area for medication, and a refrigeration unit to store sensitive medicines. Our aim is to also provide maternity services, and the proposed PACE New Life Project HIV center for diagnosis and treatment of individuals who have contracted HIV/AIDS.

We encourage foreign doctors, nurses, pediatricians, dentists, dental hygienists, hospital administrative staff and other health practitioners to partner with us in developing the health dispensary. We also encourage donations of medical supplies to help us meet our needs and goals for the health clinics.
In Each December we facilitate an initiation for pre-teen boys according to the Kikuyu Culture. This involves circumcision, which is conducted in our health clinic. The boys also receive guidance, counseling and spiritual care from approved practitioners through the dispensary. This program is offered at an affordable rate compared to other institutions that offer similar programs.
Dental Clinic
The dental clinic has been in operation since 2006, and has seen hundreds of patients go through for dental extractions. There have also been many mobile clinics to churches and high schools on oral hygiene. Most of the patients at the dental clinic are those whom are very old and have never learned about oral hygiene, or very young but with poor oral hygiene habits.
The dental clinic is stocked with
tools for tooth extraction, cleanings and X-rays. We are also introducing
teeth whitening, fillings, denture installment and repair, and root
canals. We offer lectures to primary and high school students about
dental hygeine, and we offer free toothbrushes and toothpaste. We also are focusing
on educating the community on personal hygenine and daily brushing. We have two full dental
chairs that we use for appointments. In 2009, Ben Mburu joined our team as head
dentist (pictured below).
