The Value of Short-Term Mission Teams

PACE Provides short term mission teams with many opportunities to serve.

Who can come?

Whoever wills! Anyone who's heart is open and willing to let God work in and through them. The guesthouse is equipped to accommodate up to 12 people. However, in order to build better relationships within the team and with the nationals, smaller groups of 6 to 8 people are recommended depending on the type of projects that are planned. Smaller groups seem to be more successful on many levels for the team and the host alike. A lot of team spirit is always desired, appreciated and encouraged.

Gifts, Talents and Skills

Ministry opportunities are based on an individual's ability and interest in people. You can be highly gifted, skilled and talented, however, if you do not have a heart for people, you will be frustrated and will aggravate your team as well as those you came to serve. It is therefore important that you honestly assess though prayer and reflection, your social skills, maturity and spiritual gifts, then pick an area of ministry that you are interested and skilled in.

If you feel as though your skill level may be insufficient, be encouraged in that what is most important is to have a loving heart, an open mind and a flexible attitude. Once you determine what you would like to do, prepare a description for PACE and inquire what tools you will need to bring with you or to have in place if available locally in order to complete the project(s) the Lord is leading you to.

When

Set your own dates! Our goal at PACE is to have 10 two-week teams between the months of January and November. The duration of a "typical" trip is 10-16 days. We recommend the latter, as it takes 2 days to get to Kenya and 2 days to get back home. This will allow 6-8 days of actual ministry, 2 days to make of for schedule changes, weather challenges, travel fatigue & project completion and 1-2 days of rest, recreation and debriefing. This will give you a missions trip of 14-16 days total. For flight considerations, the low season is from December to May and the high season is from June to November. Please see the 'itinerary" section for more information.

Where??

Nyahururu, Kenya, East Africa . Nyahururu is a town of approximately 50,000 people that is about a 3-½ hour drive North East of Nairobi. Typically, after landing at the International Airport in Nairobi, teams will be met by PACE representatives and driven a short way into Nairobi to accommodations for the first night. The next morning, after breakfast, teams are driven to the guesthouse in Nyahururu, and spend the first day settling in, resting, team building and working out any final logistics for the mission projects(s).
