Uniqueness of PACE Ministries
EDUCATION
Our maxim is to make "Education Available, Affordable and Accessible." Education is one of the core values of PACE Ministries. This is the reason for Pan African Schools. We run an integrated "one stop education system" that caters for children from nursery ages 2-6 to college age 20. The education sector employs the largest number of people in the ministry (62%). 79% of our staff with academy aged children educate their children at Pan African Academy. Our education department provides academic opportunities to orphans, needy and street children from 2 countries in the great lake region as well as to our own local kids. 10-15 % of our pupil and student population are receiving free education and assisted living.
PACE Ministries' goal is to operate 4 schools on one campus:
1. Elementary school
2. High School or Secondary School (Future)
3. Vocational College
4. Bible
College
We have a health clinic on campus that serves our pupils, students and staff with general health needs, medical checkups and treatments, and periodic dental services. Medical and dental outreach programs are held during the year, both as humanitarian and evangelistic efforts.
Through the college beauty school we offer
hairdressing/barber services for our pupils, students and staff on campus. We
also have a woodshop and metal shop where community members can have furniture
built and repairs made. Through PACE water services, water can be pumped from
the river, and hauled to storage tanks. During the year, there are many
seminars, workshops and outreach designed to encourage, teach and equip
Kenyans.
LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT
PACE Ministries ascribes to the principles of self-governance and self-sustainability. PACE's outreach is primarily to the Pan African community in Africa as well as the Diaspora. It is therefore natural that its leadership hails largely from the same community. We have Africans, African Americans, Caribbean Africans, and Caucasians serving on the board, reflecting the desired diversity within the leadership. In Kenya, leadership and management are provided by indigenous people. Foreign staff provides support services and serves under the management of indigenous leadership. Our leadership and management staff believe fully in self-governance and self-sustainability
While PACE
ministries welcomes financial support from the body of Christ, we value greatly
the benefits and dignity of self-government and self-sustainability. Currently,
the ministry raises 1/3 of its income from its locally generated income (schools
and medical services) and another 1/3 from US churches and individuals. The
remaining 1/3 comes from team donations and one time gifts from foreign
partners. Our goal is to raise another 1/3 locally leaving only 1/3 of everyday
operating expenses to come from the global community. With 2/3 of our income
generated within the country, the ministry financial footing shall be secure. If
the other 1/3 of our financial resources should not be available, the ministry
could simply down size, rather than face financial collapse.
UNIQUENESS IN LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT
- Ministry is led by Pan African and indigenous leadership. Its board reflects a global community.
- The vision and mission of PACE are 100% indigenous.
- Ministry enjoys self governance and partial self sufficiency.
- All upper and lower management positions are run by the Pan African community
- Provides an opportunity for global community members to serve in missions and development alongside indigenous people under African leadership and management.
